Polygon selector and polygon visibility
Drawing polygons
Space polygons are used to define space. In this way, registrations in the app get location information. These usually have values for Room Name and Room Number.
- To draw a Room polygon, press the green pencil in the toolbar or 2 hotkeys. To quickly draw one room, tap on each corner of the room.
- After drawing the room, press "C" to exit
- Then press "S" to define the room
Room name and Room number are usually described.
Control areas are drawn in the exact same way, but have hotkey 3 and red pencil. Here there is only one field to describe.
Remember to press the save button in the top right corner.
Moving and rotating polygons
Moving polygons is especially useful when importing Rooms via IFC files. It is also necessary when setting up a project with BIM in it.
After opening the polygon editor, the space objects will be twisted incorrectly in relation to the floor plan. To be able to turn this correctly, we have to use the R key. First press the R key at the top of the toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut R on the keyboard. Then press the center of the space objects with the left mouse button and move them slightly right up on the floor plan, then press the right mouse button again. You now enter the rotation mode, rotate it correctly and position it correctly. Then press ESC after it is positioned correctly.
Remember to press save at the top right when you are done.
Saving Polygons
When you press the save button at the top right, you can be presented with up to 4 choices:
- Save as PROJECT polygons
Option 1 applies if all your drawings inside the same project apply to the same area and have the same zero point. - Save as CATALOG polygons
Option 2 is similar to option 1 only that it is about folders instead of projects - Save as DRAWING polygons
Option 3 Is if your polygons match only one drawing. - Only download the file
Option 4 Is to download the polygons as an .xml file
Polygon selector and polygon visibility
This guide shows you how to use the Polygon selector to select two different polygons we have drawn.
It is not possible to display Values on either Rooms or Control Area Polygons when they are on top of each other.
To be able to select a Space Polygon to give this value, we must first hide the control area polygons. This is done by pressing the red eye. If you then press on the green space, you can now give it values.
The same applies when naming Control Area Polygons.
Deleting polygons
Deleting polygons can be helpful in getting rid of unwanted polygons. If you are drawing one polygon but want to cancel, press the "ESC" key.
To delete a single symbol, you must first select it with the "S" key- Then press the "X" key. It now asks you if you are absolutely sure if you want to delete.
One problem arises when deleting overlapping symbols.
To counteract this, you can press the "S" key, select one polygon, move it with the "V" key. Delete the polygon correctly, then move the other polygon back.
Remember to press the save button in the top right corner.
How to duplicate polygons
In many cases, there are buildings that have several similar rooms. Here you can duplicate existing polygons to finish the process faster. In this article we will learn 2 things:
- Duplication
To duplicate a polygon select it with the “S” button/icon, then press the “D” button/icon and click on the selected polygon.
- Change After the polygon is drawn
You are able to change the shape of polygons after they are drawn. To change the shape select the polygon with the “S” button/icon. Press the “M” button/icon and click on the selected polygon. Blue «nodes» will appear and by clicking and moving these you can change the shape. You can also add extra “nodes” by clicking the lines of the polygon.
Remember to press the save button in the top right corner.
Align with 3D
When subproject's are created by using the BIM function the scale of the polygons are not matched with the scale of the drawing.
This makes it hard to adjust the polygons to the drawing. The solution is to adjust the polygons by using the align function.
This is how you align polygons that have a different scale then your drawing:
Tip: Rotate the Polygons correctly before doing the steps below.
- Locate the room in you drawing that is placed on the top left.
- Find the top left 90 degree angle in this room.
- Press the "a" icon or a hotkey.
- Click the corner on the top left and lead the line to the room polygon which belongs there, then click that corner.
- Proceed to the same with the bottom right room and polygon.
- When both lines are drawn press the spacebar to adjust the polygons.
Tip 2: If the polygons don't adjust correctly and you would like to try again simply refresh the browser window.
